The Green Team's Sustainable Home Fair: Learn how to electrify your home and improve energy efficiency! Drop by the library anytime between 11am-2pm In-Person

Why should you electrify your home? It offers so many benefits ranging from saving you money to impacting the environment and making your life more convenient. You'll learn from the experts, who'll discuss heat pumps, solar panels, electrical equipment for home landscaping, energy conservation for the home, and others. This fair is brought to you by the Westfield Green Team.

1. What's the environmental impact of electrifying your home?

  • Reduced Carbon Footprint: Switching to electricity, especially if it's from renewable sources like solar or wind, can significantly lower your carbon emissions compared to using fossil fuels.
  • Cleaner Energy: Electric systems typically have fewer direct emissions compared to gas or oil-based systems.

2. How does electrifying effect energy efficiency?

  • Efficient Appliances: Electric appliances, like heat pumps and induction stoves, often perform more efficiently than their gas counterparts.
  • Heat Pumps: Modern electric heat pumps can provide both heating and cooling more efficiently than traditional gas or electric resistance systems.

3. How will you save money?

  • Lower Utility Bills: Over time, energy-efficient electric systems can reduce your utility bills, particularly if you use renewable energy or have access to favorable electricity rates.
  • Incentives and Rebates: Many regions offer incentives or rebates for installing energy-efficient electric appliances and systems.

4. What's so convenient about electrifying your home?

  • Smart Home Integration: Electric systems are often more compatible with smart home technology, offering convenience and control through apps and home automation.
  • Simplified Fuel Supply: Eliminating gas lines and oil tanks can simplify your home's infrastructure and reduce the need for maintenance.

5. How will your family be safer?

  • Reduced Risk of Carbon Monoxide: Electric systems eliminate the risk of carbon monoxide leaks associated with gas appliances.
  • Fire Safety: While electrical systems do have their risks, eliminating combustible fuels reduces certain fire hazards.

6. How will electrifying affect your home's future resale value?

  • Adaptability: As the grid becomes greener and more resilient, having an all-electric home positions you to take advantage of future enerby innovations and lower rates.
  • Resale Value: Homes with modern, energy-efficient features can be more attractive to potential buyers, potentially increasing resale value.

7.   What about adding solar panels to your home?

  • They add value to your home.
  • They reduce your electric bill.
  • The payback time is 5-7 years; after that you are making money with the solar panels.
