Fiddlin': A Documentary Screening In-Person
During the America250 celebration we are pleased to share this film about mountain musicians joyously passing on their traditions. Phenomenal musical talent abounds in this film about the annual Old Fiddler's Convention in the Appalachian town of Galax, VA. You will learn the difference between old time music and bluegrass, and we guarantee you'll go home resolved to learn to play the banjo, guitar, fiddle, or possibly the spoons. Following the viewing of this 92 minute long documentary, Library Intern Margaret Danenhauer will facilitate a discussion. Margaret is a rising junior at the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, and we are delighted to have her back with us for a second summer.
Featuring many young musicians, this program is appropriate for tweens, teens and adults.
