Let's Make Music!: A Musical Literacy Series for Children In-Person
Join the New Jersey Workshop for the Arts for an interactive, hands-on journey into the world of music! Our Musical Literacy workshop is designed to introduce young children to adventures in reading and performing rhythm, melody, and quality tone. In this unique four-part series, children will explore a different family of instruments each session—ranging from strings and woodwinds to brass and percussion—led by expert instructors. Through play, listening, ready and tactile exploration, your little one will begin their path toward musical fluency.
The New Jersey Workshop for the Arts (NJWA) is a Westfield non-profit 501(c)(3) cultural institution dedicated to the belief that talent develops and creativity thrives. For over 50 years, the NJWA has enriched the community through high-quality arts education, offering everything from private instrumental lessons and performing ensembles to summer camps and community outreach. With a faculty of professional musicians and educators, the NJWA provides a nurturing environment where students of all ages can explore their artistic potential and develop a lifelong passion for the arts. Music literacy is a positive correlate of reading and the Westfield Memorial Library is excited for this collaboration with a storied local music school!
For ages 18 months to 5 years old. This is a four-part class; registering for the first session commits you to all four dates:
