Sign your Kids up for an Art Class with our newest Artist-in-Residence Shen Rosen (FOR GRADES 4-6) In-Person
This workshop by Shen Rosen will help kids (grades 4-6) get in touch with their creative side and get beyond creative blocks. She will encourage them to begin painting in whatever way feels right, and then use the colors/brushstrokes as a sort of "coloring book" or a guideline to make shapes, figures, etc. This exercise pushes people to see things and create art, even if it is out of just splotches of paint.
Shen, the 6th Artist-in-Residence to serve at Westfield Memorial Library, will exhibit her work from June to the end of July. She is a 21-year-old artist from Westfield, now based in Plainfield, who through her work, uses painting as a way to process and express deeply felt emotions. Her paintings emerge from a visceral, pre-verbal space, transforming lived experience into raw visual form.
