SUMMARY:How Immigration Works with Laurie Woog
DESCRIPTION:Few current issues arouse as much passion as immigration\, but 
 many people do not know how U.S. immigration law actually functions. It is 
 useful to have some knowledge about the design and limitations of the 
 system in order to understand the impact of current policies or discuss the 
 issues with accuracy. Who is eligible to come to the U.S. temporarily or 
 permanently?  What are some common misconceptions about immigration law? 
 This presentation will offer a basic introduction to the legal framework 
 for immigration to the U.S.\, and elucidate the underlying principles and 
 parameters of current immigration law.\n\nLaurie Woog has over 20 years of 
 experience handling various types of immigration and naturalization cases.  
 She received her bachelor’s degree in English from Harvard University and 
 her law degree from Northeastern University Law School.  Ms. Woog served as 
 a law clerk for the Honorable Barbara Crabb\, a federal judge in Madison\, 
 Wisconsin\, and taught at the University of Wisconsin Law School before 
 moving to New Jersey.  A member of the American Immigration Lawyers 
 Association\, she has lectured on immigration topics at bar associations\, 
 conferences and universities and authored articles appearing in Wisconsin 
 Lawyer and Immigration Law Today. The Woog Law Office handles  immigration 
 cases across the U.S. and abroad  including green cards based on marriage\, 
 citizenship\, labor certification\, temporary work visas such as H-1bs\, 
 and permanent residence applications based on high level employment-related 
 skills including national interest waivers.  Ms. Woog is also of counsel to 
 the firm of Mandelbaum Salsburg and resides in Westfield.
